Description

The Merrithew SPX Max Plus Reformer Bundle is the most advanced model in the SPX family, a commercial-grade STOTT PILATES reformer and virtual Cadillac in one space-saving frame. Its vertical frame with traveling pulleys and a patented retractable rope system deliver variable angles of resistance and three-dimensional movement that replicates everyday activities.

Built for studio owners, instructors, and serious home users, it combines full reformer functionality with tower and Cadillac-style exercises, making it suitable for all fitness levels, rehabilitation, and athletic training.

This bundle adds the accessories that expand the machine’s repertoire: a Mat Converter, a Reformer Box with footstrap, a Padded Platform Extender, and a Maple Roll-Up Pole, a value of over $1,150 compared to buying them separately.

The SPX Max Plus is also a CE Marked Class I Medical Device in conformity with the European Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR), so it can be formally used in hospitals and healthcare settings by medical professionals.

Who is it built for and when it makes sense

• Serious home practitioners who want the most capable SPX reformer with full tower functionality in a compact, commercial-grade frame.

When it’s not the right fit

• If you only need a standard reformer and won’t use the vertical frame or tower exercises, a standard SPX Max bundle may be a better-value choice.
• If you have very limited ceiling height. The vertical frame needs a minimum ceiling height of 77 in (195.6 cm) to install, and standing platform exercises need about 97.5 in (2.48 m).
• If you want a machine you can fold away. It does not fold; it is stackable only when the vertical frame is removed.

Materials

C-channel aluminum rails, durable vinyl upholstery over dense EVA foam, and a 1 in (25 mm) thick wooden standing platform. The included Roll-Up Pole and roll-down bar are maple.

Resistance system

Reformer: High Precision Springs Package, 5 reformer springs (3 at 100%, 1 at 50%, 1 at 25%), with 5 neoprene spring covers for noise reduction.

Vertical frame: 2 push-thru springs, 2 roll-down springs (with maple roll-down bar), 2 arm springs (with foam grip handles), and 2 leg springs (with padded long spine straps), plus 2 extension straps and 2 traveling pulleys for variable angles of resistance.

Upholstery colors

Space requirements

The reformer measures approximately 99.5 in x 26 in (252.7 cm x 66 cm), with a vertical frame about 174 cm tall. You also need clear space around it to move freely. As a practical guide, plan for a room that offers:

• Length: Allow extra room beyond each end of the 99.5 in (2.53 m) frame for arm and leg extensions, the box, and the platform extender.
• Width: Leave room on both sides of the 26 in (66 cm) frame for lateral movements and to get on and off safely.
• Ceiling height: At least 77 in (195.6 cm) to install the vertical frame, and at least 97.5 in (2.48 m) for standing platform exercises (based on a 5’8" user, taller users need more).

Who it fits (height)

Merrithew does not publish an official user height range for the SPX Max Plus. As a practical guide:

• The 38.5 in (98 cm) carriage comfortably accommodates most adult users.
• Taller users, or those with a long torso who find full extension restrictive, can add a Reformer Extension Upgrade for +6 in (15 cm) of length (available separately).

Assembly

• Minimal assembly is required for the reformer; the vertical frame attaches to the reformer.
• Built-in easy-roll wheels let you reposition it once set up.
• An Owner’s manual is available for setup, proper use, and maintenance.

Moving and storage

• This reformer does not fold, but easy-roll wheels on both ends make it simple to move and reposition.
• It is stackable when the vertical frame is removed; shoulder rests slide into frame brackets and reinforced pulleybars detach without disengaging the ropes.
• A rolling base is available separately for added convenience when moving stacked reformers.

Maintenance Requirements:

• Carriage wheels & rails: keep clean and free of debris to keep the carriage gliding smoothly.
• Upholstery: wipe down with a damp cloth. For deeper stains, use a small amount of neutral soap diluted in water.
• Springs: inspect periodically and replace worn springs to maintain proper tension and safety.

Warranty

• Limited lifetime warranty: aluminum rails, components of the frame and related welding, standard gearbar, and footbar mechanisms (excluding the rubber / Comfort Footbar)
• 90 days: upholstery
• 1 year: ropes, straps, spring clips, plastic pulley bar receptacle sleeves, comfort footbar, spring covers, and plastic spring holders
• 2 years: all other Reformer components

Shipping & Delivery

• Please note: Merrithew products are excluded from free US shipping (and from shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico).
• Large equipment ships via freight carrier, carefully packed in a cardboard or plywood box.
• Standard delivery is curbside, as close to your entrance or garage as possible. The driver does not unload inside. Plan to have two people available to bring it in.
• The carrier will call ahead to schedule your delivery. Missing your scheduled window may result in additional charges.

Before signing for delivery: inspect the outer box and note any visible damage on the waybill. Damage not noted at delivery cannot be claimed later. For damaged items, send photos to returns@pilatesmatters.com.

Returns & Cancellations

• Cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of ordering. After 24 hours we’ll do our best but cannot guarantee cancellation. Shipped orders cannot be cancelled or returned.
• This product is final sale. As with all Merrithew equipment (excluding accessories), this reformer is not eligible for returns. Please review your order carefully before purchasing.
