The Merrithew™ SPX® Max Plus™ is the most advanced model in the SPX family of Pilates Reformers. It combines the SPX Max's stackable, commercial-grade reformer with a permanently integrated Vertical Frame, giving you Reformer and virtual Cadillac functionality in one compact machine.

Its patented Retractable Rope System and traveling pulleys along the Vertical Frame enable three-dimensional movements that mimic real-life actions, opening up a much wider exercise repertoire than a standard reformer. It's suitable for individuals of all fitness levels, from rehabilitation clients through advanced athletic training.

The SPX Max Plus Reformer is officially recognized as a Class I Medical Device with a CE Mark, in compliance with the European Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR) — enabling use in hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout much of Europe.

The SPX® Max Plus™ has the same compact reformer footprint as the SPX Max, plus the added Vertical Frame. As a practical guide, plan for a room that offers:

Length: At least 10 ft (305 cm) for comfortable access and unrestricted exercise movement.

Width: At least 5 ft (152 cm) to move safely around both sides of the reformer.

Ceiling height: At least 77 in (195.6 cm) to accommodate the Vertical Frame — check your ceiling height before ordering.

Who it fits (height)

The SPX® Max Plus™ accommodates a wide range of users thanks to its adjustable footbar, headrest, carriage settings, and optional extension upgrade.

• Suitable for most users from approximately 5'0" (152 cm) to 6'4" (193 cm).

• Particularly well suited for taller users when equipped with the optional 6 in (15 cm) extension upgrade.

• Suitable for beginners, rehabilitation clients, athletes, and advanced practitioners.

Assembly

The SPX® Max Plus™ arrives partially assembled and requires final setup, including attachment of the Vertical Frame.

• Minimal assembly is required.

• Most installations can be completed within 1–2 hours.

• Two people are recommended when positioning the reformer and frame.

• Standard hand tools may be required during assembly.

Moving and storage

The SPX® Max Plus™ does not fold, but it is designed to stack once the Vertical Frame is removed.

• Integrated easy-roll wheels make repositioning simple.

• Detachable shoulder rests and pulley bars simplify the stacking process — pulley bars detach without disengaging the ropes.

• Optional rolling bases are available to make transporting stacked reformers easier.

• Ideal for studios, fitness facilities, and rehabilitation clinics where space efficiency matters.

Maintenance Requirements

• Wipe upholstery regularly using a damp microfiber cloth.

• Inspect springs periodically and replace when signs of wear appear.

• Check ropes, straps, clips, and moving components regularly.

• Clean aluminum rails to maintain smooth carriage travel.

• Inspect retractable rope components periodically to ensure smooth operation.

• Tighten hardware periodically, particularly in commercial environments.

Warranty

Limited Lifetime Warranty: Aluminum rails, frame components and related welds, and standard gearbar and footbar mechanisms (excluding the Rubber Footbar)

90 Days: Upholstery

1 Year: Ropes, straps, spring clips, plastic pulley bar receptacle sleeves, Comfort Footbar, spring covers, and plastic spring holders

2 Years: All other Reformer components

Shipping & Delivery

Please note: this product is not eligible for free US shipping (and is excluded from shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico).

Large equipment ships via freight carrier, carefully packed in a cardboard or plywood box.

Standard delivery is curbside, as close to your entrance or garage as possible. The driver does not unload inside. Plan to have two people available to bring it in.

The carrier will call ahead to schedule your delivery. Missing your scheduled window may result in additional charges.

Before signing for delivery: inspect the outer box and note any visible damage on the waybill. Damage not noted at delivery cannot be claimed later. For damaged items, send photos to sales@pilatesmatters.com.

Returns & Cancellations

Cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of ordering. After 24 hours we'll do our best but cannot guarantee cancellation. Shipped orders cannot be cancelled or returned.

This product is final sale. As with most Merrithew™ equipment, the SPX® Max Plus™ Reformer is not eligible for returns. Please review your order carefully before purchasing.
