Description

The Merrithew SPX Max Reformer Bundle is a professional-grade STOTT PILATES reformer built for facilities and users who want commercial-level performance without stepping up to a larger, more expensive studio reformer. Its durable frame, smooth C-channel aluminum rail system, High Precision Spring package, and patented Retractable Rope System deliver the controlled, fluid movement Merrithew reformers are known for.

Unlike many commercial reformers at this level, the SPX Max is lightweight and stackable, making it practical for facilities with limited space, multipurpose rooms, and studios running group classes. The included Reformer Box, Padded Platform Extender, and Maple Roll-Up Pole significantly expand the number of exercises you can perform compared with the base reformer alone.

It’s also a CE Marked Class I Medical Device under the European Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR), allowing it to be used formally in hospitals and healthcare settings across most of Europe. The bundle includes 60-day access to digital workouts on Merrithew Connect.

When it’s not the right fit

• If you need a reformer that folds away after every workout. The SPX Max is stackable but does not fold.
• If you need full Cadillac functionality immediately. It can be upgraded with the SPX Max Plus Vertical Frame, but the standard bundle is primarily a reformer system.
• If budget is your primary concern. There are lower-cost entry-level reformers, but they typically lack the durability and commercial-grade construction of the SPX Max.

Materials

Commercial-grade frame, C-channel aluminum rails, durable vinyl upholstery over dense EVA foam, a reinforced pulley system, and a 1 in (2.5 cm) thick wooden standing platform. The included Roll-Up Pole is maple.

Resistance system

High Precision Springs Package, 5 Reformer springs: 3 at 100% tension, 1 at 50%, and 1 at 25%, with 5 neoprene spring covers for noise reduction. The enhanced springs are built to withstand vigorous use with Jumpboards, Cardio-Tramp® Rebounders, and other Reformer accessories, and secure quickly and safely.

Upholstery colors

Space requirements

The reformer measures approximately 99.5 in x 26 in (252.7 cm x 66 cm). You also need clear space around it to move freely during exercises. As a practical guide, plan for a room that offers:

• Length: at least 11 ft (335 cm), leaving extra room beyond each end of the frame for arm and leg extensions, the box, and the platform extender.
• Width: at least 5 ft (150 cm) for safe mounting, dismounting, and lateral movements.
• Ceiling height: at least 97.5 in (2.48 m) for standing platform exercises, and 100.5 in (2.55 m) to store the reformer upright.

Who it fits (height)

• Best suited for users between approximately 5’0" (152 cm) and 6’4" (193 cm), with a 350 lb (159 kg) weight capacity.
• Shorter users can easily adjust the carriage settings, ropes, and footbar positions for a proper fit.
• For users taller than 6 ft 4 in (193 cm) or with longer torsos, an extended-length upgrade to 103 in (262 cm) is available separately.

Assembly

• Minimal assembly required.
• Built-in easy-roll wheels let you reposition it once set up.
• Two people are recommended when moving and positioning the reformer.
• An Owner’s manual is included for setup, proper use, and maintenance.

Moving and storage

• The SPX Max does not fold, but it is designed for easy movement and storage.
• Easy-roll wheels on both ends let you reposition it quickly.
• Multiple units stack for efficient studio storage, and optional rolling bases are available for transporting stacked reformers.
• Shoulder rests and pulley bars are designed for convenient storage when stacked.
• It is upgradeable with an SPX Max Plus Vertical Frame and Mat Converter for Cadillac functionality.

Maintenance Requirements:

• Carriage wheels & rails: wipe the rails regularly and keep them free of debris to maintain smooth carriage movement.
• Upholstery: clean with a damp microfiber cloth and a mild soap solution.
• Springs, ropes & loops: inspect periodically for wear and replace worn items to maintain proper tension and safety.

Warranty

• Limited lifetime warranty: aluminum rails, components of the frame and related welding, standard gearbar, and footbar mechanisms (excluding the Rubber Footbar)
• 90 days: upholstery
• 1 year: ropes, straps, spring clips, plastic pulley bar receptacle sleeves, comfort footbar, spring covers, and plastic spring holders
• 2 years: all other Reformer components

Shipping & Delivery

• Please note: Merrithew products are excluded from free US shipping (and from shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico).
• Large equipment ships via freight carrier, carefully packed in a cardboard or plywood box.
• Standard delivery is curbside, as close to your entrance or garage as possible. The driver does not unload inside. Plan to have two people available to bring it in.
• The carrier will call ahead to schedule your delivery. Missing your scheduled window may result in additional charges.

Before signing for delivery: inspect the outer box and note any visible damage on the waybill. Damage not noted at delivery cannot be claimed later. For damaged items, send photos to sales@pilatesmatters.com.

Returns & Cancellations

• Cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of ordering. After 24 hours we’ll do our best but cannot guarantee cancellation. Shipped orders cannot be cancelled or returned.
• This product is final sale. As with all Merrithew equipment (excluding accessories), this Reformer is not eligible for returns. Please review your order carefully before purchasing.
